You get to pick your roommate. It is sooo much fun. This is one of my favorite expansion packs that I have purchased. You can even hire a butler. You get to live in your own apartment and there is so many new options. Now you can have sports obsessed sims or high class sims. This is just a fun game to explore and a great game to play with. Highly recommended :D
First, if you have Sims 2 Double Deluxe, you have securom in your computer.I just started into the Sims franchise and am loving it. The witches/warlocks are cool, especially when combined with vampires. Some of the new items are great space-savers: bed-in-a-wall, closet/mirror, spiral stairs, etc. I enjoyed it so much I started to look into the expansions. It makes it much easier to start with large families. The reviews warning against securom locked expansions almost scared me away from some great expansions. I got the Double Deluxe pack as it was the only way to get the base game. Making potions and reagents is draining on your sim, but not any more than any other activity.
I have not had any trouble with the securom DRM software myself, but obviously your mileage may vary. So don't be scared off by the securom software reviews, chances are if you're playing the sims2, you already have it.As far as the game goes, I really like this expansion. And the new system that gives you simoleans(cash) based on how many family members you have when you create a new family is great. Oh, you can now silence or screen calls on your sim's phone, so you don't get calls in the middle of the night or while the baby is napping. All in all, a great expansion along with Open for Business, Seasons, and Nightlife.
I'm a simhead so there really isn't much I can say against it. It's fun. It's a cool addition.
I did not know that I needed the regular Sims 2 to get this expansion pack. The regular Sims 2 isn't even compatiable with my Windows Program. I have Vista, the regular Sims 2 only goes up to XP.
However, when you move into an apartment, you can only manage to alter so many things to the apartment building. I don't know about the others who are saying they are facing problems with their computers with the SecuRom, but I have had this product downloaded and playable for two weeks. There is a new dimension that a player receives with each purchase of the Sims 2 expansion packs. I'm not a complete Sims 2 fanatic- just someone who enjoys the game for what it is; a game. Anyways, as long as you aren't downloading strange and illegal things, I believe you should be safe from the SecuRom. As for gaming, it offers new hairstyles (technically only 4, but it has many different designs/ colors of barrettes for each style), furniture, service people, and magic.
There is a cheat to alter this, but I'm a bit weary with always pulling up the cheat bar. Frankly, it works just fine, and I'll start now with reviewing the actual product. You cannot upgrade interior doors, change the fire place or the staircase. There's actually a lot more, but I don't feel like writing a novel. Only having the product for a few short weeks and because school is up and running, I haven't had much time to really experience the entire game, but from what I have experienced, I am very satisfied. Also, when you live in a normal home, you can't experience having a roommate, which isn't entirely realistic, but oh well, I guess you can't have everything you want.
Farewell.
